The Best Knee Brace for Runner's Knee

The DonJoy Cross Strap was designed specifically to help prevent runner's knee, and was engineered with runners and cyclists in mind. It is fabricated in one piece, so nothing will fall off and you won't lose small parts. It is designed to apply just enough pressure on the patellar tendon to avoid friction on the iliotibial band (ITB). It is small yet comfortable to be discreet under running pants, without any stitching. It compresses the forces above and below the knee cap to reduce tension in the ITB and the pain resulting from there.

Of course, other athletes suffering from knee pain may also benefit from wearing a DonJoy Cross Strap during their sports activities to reduce pain and help prevent runner's knee. As mentioned above, runner's knee does not only affect runners and cyclists. If you lift weights or perform other tasks with consistent bending of the knee, you should consider wearing a knee strap such as the DonJoy Cross Strap, as pressure on the lateral part of your knees can also cause runners knee.

It is the simplicity of this brace and the targeted support it applies that makes the DonJoy Cross Strap ideal for someone who is looking for relief from runner's knee. Plus it can be worn during daily activities and sports!

    • Can this strap help me if I have bi lateral patella compression syndrome.
    • Yes this strap will help you with a mild support on that bilateral patella compression syndrome. Another one I would recommend is the DONJOY REACTION WEB knee brace which will give you a better support and decrease pain.

    • My nephew is currently wearing a cho-pat strap while playing basketball to decrease symptoms of Osgood Schlatter Disease. While the brace decreases pain levels and inflammation, hIs primary complaint is migration of the brace with activity. What brace would you recommend?
    • Misty

    • I've had both knee replaced and have lymphedema of my legs. Everything is being managed nicely with the exception of knee pain. The Solais wraps I have slip all day. I need something to give my knees some support I'd need something that could measure up tp 30" sometimes due to the fluid. Help
    • Michele
Im not sure what brace you were looking at but for lymphedema, I would suggest a knee sleeve such as the Drytex Basic Knee sleeve https://www.betterbraces.com/donjoy-drytex-basic-knee-sleeve This sleeve's largest size is XXL which will fit a thigh circumference of 26.5"-29.5"
  • Dede at 5/31/2014 9:04 PM
    • I have been using 2 different knee braces ( patellar 2 straps / light support sleeve)
due to a LCL strain / IT Band . I do a fair amount of walking / up&down stairs for my work would this be a good choice for a LCL?

    • Dede
The Cross Strap is for patellar tendonitis, osgood schlatter's diseas IT band pain. For a LCL sprain you would want t hinged knee brace to support that ligament. The DonJoy Economy Hinged Knee Brace would help. https://www.betterbraces.com/donjoy-economy-hinged-knee

    • Nelly,
CPT and ICD9 codes come from a physicians office or a Physical Therapy Dept.
  • nicole at 7/25/2011 1:10 PM
    • How do you put in on??
    • There is a slit in one side of the strap that you thread the other side through at the front of the knee just under the knee cap. The donjoy logo will be at the top of your calf so that someone standing behind you can read it, then attach the velcro on each side of the strap onto the brace to hold in place.
  • Meghan at 10/7/2010 4:26 PM
    • Can you wear the Cross Strap Brace in the water if you are a swimmer with Osgood Shlatter Disease?
