    • I had a compound tib/fib fracture of my left ankle from a bad motorcycle accident. My ankle did a 180° and both bones popped out of my ankle. I'm on my feet and walking a lot at work all day. I've bought an Ace ankle brace which helps, but my ankle now hurts a lot more than it used to. I have a ton of post traumatic arthritis all over my joint to spice things up a bit. I'm thinking that I need a smidge more support. Any ideas on which brace would be best for me?
    • To provide more support than an ace wrap we would suggest a product like the Aircast A60 Ankle Support. It is designed to fit in shoes better than a traditional stirrup ankle brace. https://www.betterbraces.com/aircast-a60-ankle-support-2

    • Can I wear this brace while doing dog Agilty?
    • Yes
  • Jean the Klutz at 3/16/2016 11:56 AM
    • I have chronic instability in both ankles due to hyper mobility syndrome. I have sprained both a few times over the years, and is more frequent. That said, I have a nonunion of a fracture in the 5th metatarsal of one foot, with plate and screws. Is there a particular brace for everyday use that might not aggravate that bone?
    • The Aircast airsport ankle brace is a great brace for support of the ankle that can be worn daily. The brace provides moderate ankle support.
  • Yvonne at 2/2/2016 12:00 PM
    • I am coming out of a walking boot in a few days. What type of ankle brace would help.I stand a lot at work.
    • The Don Joy Stabilizing Pro Ankle Brace will offer moderate support to your ankle and fits into most shoes comfortably. The brace would be a good choice for you.

    • My brother had a massive stroke 2/15, hospital didn't prevent foot drop and now ankle turns in and it hurts. Yes we have a walking brace, but we need something for just indoor walking and showering.
    • Sharon the Procare Universal Ankle Support will help prevent inversion/eversion (inside/outside movement) of the ankle, but will not prevent any foot drop.
  • Ahquilah at 6/16/2015 3:37 AM
    • Hi looking for ankle support for my 10 yr old daughter who had a sprain in the past and is complaining of her ankle hurting again; not sure if it is the same ankle. She does competitive cheerleading; thus a lot of tumbling and jumps. Would this particular brace be beneficial to her,fit her and could it be worn with cheer shoes?
    • This is a good choice, however another option we feel would be a better solution would be the Aircast A60 Ankle Support, this is low profile brace that offers excellent support and protection. Here is the link: https://www.betterbraces.com/aircast-a60-ankle-support-2
  • Bob at 6/5/2015 2:53 AM
    • Can you suggest a brace to be worn inside an athletic shoe. I have overpronation of the right ankle due to flat feet. Also have tarsal tunnel syndrome due to same condition. Am on my feet for 8-10 hrs per day. tku
    • The ProCare Universal Ankle Brace Support is a suitable selection, however the Aircast Airlift PTTD Brace would be better suited for your condition. This brace has an aircell located under the foot which helps lift the arch to for a more natural foot position. The stabilizers on the side of the brace will help align the ankle to help prevent overpronation. Here is the link to the brace: https://www.betterbraces.com/aircast-airlift-pttd-brace

    • My husband shattered his ankle 6 years ago, still has the pins and plates. He sometimes has to walk uneven ground for work. Will this help support and keep his ankle forming a lot? Will it fit in his work boot (his boot is a KEEN brand just to the ankle)? Thank you
    • Stephanie
I would suggest the Don Joy Stabilizing Ankle. It provides great support and will fit into the boot better.
  • Dawn alfonso at 6/13/2014 3:28 PM
    • Hi, I have a chronic ulcer on my left foot, outer side. I am paralyzed and my foot droops of course when I have my shoes off. Now, my doctor recommended this. My question is if I put it on, will the straps cover, rub or irritate my problem. I'm so confused, we've been dealing with this for months now. I'm gonna use oasis skin graft to help. Please, help....
    • Dawn
It depends on where the ulcer is. If it is wear the brace straps are lying then it could irritate. since your doctor suggested this brace, you should discuss your concerns with the doctor
  • Jenn at 5/30/2014 9:40 PM
    • Can I wear this brace during intense physical activity?
    • Jenn
Yes you can wear that brace during activity
  • AJ at 5/16/2014 3:54 AM
    • I have a partial tear in the tendon on the left side of my ankle. Is it save to wear one of these braces while it heals, and then to help support the ankle afterwards?
    • This brace can be worn to protect the ankle from further injury as well as for injury prevention.
  • Gail at 3/14/2014 5:37 PM
    • I have osteoarthritis in my lower leg/ankle due to a severe spiral leg break I had from a skiing accident 30 years ago. I am now suffering repercussions from this accident. My doctor has suggested a Gauntlet ankle brace. Can you suggest an ankle brace for me that you carry?
    • Gail
The closest thing to a Gaunlet ankle brace that we have is the DonJoy Velocity ankle brace.https://www.betterbraces.com/donjoy-velocity-ankle-brace It is the most supportive ankle brace that we make. It is a semi rigid plastic shell with hinge and foot plate that fits into the shoe. It comes in three support styles: Light, Moderate and Extra Support.
  • John at 3/6/2014 6:52 PM
    • Hi. I have Charcot Arthrophy and have been using a CROW Boot for the past year and a half. I would like to transition to a regular shoe or work boot but still need the 360° support. Will this product provide enough rigid stabilization to protect my ankle?
    • Thank you for your question. The Procare Universal Ankle Brace Support will have rigid pieces on the sides giving support the lateral and medial aspects of the ankle. You will be able to maintain a normal gate with this brace. However is does not offer any additional support to the anterior or posterior aspects of the ankle.

    • Is the foot closure portion adjustable? Velcro or something?
    • Hello,

The foot strap is made of a stretchy spandex type of material, you slide it on like a sock. No Velcro, and its not adjustable. But it has alot of stretch.

      Thanks for Contacting Donjoy.
  • Rich Fowler at 10/28/2013 7:30 AM
    • Can you wear cowboy boots with this brace. There lace up boots
    • Rich,
This brace is designed with the ability to be worn in a sneaker or tennis shoe. You It would probably fit in your boots however, it is rigid and if your boots are rigid as well, it may not be comfortable. The DonJoy Stabilizing (Speed) PRO Ankle brace is often worn by skiers and may be an option for you as well, as they fit in ski boots. Thank you for contacting DJO

    • I have recurring tibial posterior tendinitis as a result of having Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have a tall boot but it is too bulky for water exercise. Can I use this boot for water exercise?
    • Pat
Thank you for contacting product spupport. You can wear the ProCare Universal Ankle Brace Suppport in the pool, you just need to make sure that you rinse it off after using it to get the clorine out of it and let it air dry. Another option is the Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Brace, it only has cloth straps and heel pad everything else is plastic so dries easier. It does give the same support as the ProCare Brace. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

    • I have an unstable ankle but I would like to purchase a light but effective brace to fit inside a modified ski boot. My ankle bone in the medial side of the ankle has been protruding as the tendons get weaker and I need more support to hold it up. I will need to have my ski boots modified to fit an ankle brace. The goal is to find a comfortable brace that fits inside a ski boot and keeps my ankle from rolling inward and outward. I also need extra cushioning on the medial aspect of the ankle. what brace do you suggest.?
    • Carol,
You may find that the ProCare Universal Ankle Brace Support is too rigid to fit comfortably in your boot. Something like the ProCare Kallassy Ankle Support Brace or the DonJoy Stabilizing PRO Ankle Brace will offer you the support and stability you are looking for along with the ability to fit into your boot a little better. Also these two braces come in several sizes to make the fit a little more custom to you foot. Please let us know if you have any more questions. Thank you for contacting DJO.
  • Debbe at 7/19/2012 1:23 PM
    • I broke my fibula and cracked my tibia 8 weeks ago. Thankfully, it wasn't bad enough to require surgery. I was put in a non-weight bearing cast for 4 weeks and have been in a cam walker for last 4 weeks. Yesterday, my doctor suggested purchasing a pair of high top hiking boots to provide ankle/leg support for another 4 weeks. However, that would be very costly. I'm wondering if this brace would give me the needed support and stability as I continue my recovery/rehab?
    • Debbe,
Thank you for contacting DJO Global. You should take a picture of this brace into your physician and ask if he thinks it would be ok for your injury.
  • Shauna at 4/19/2012 12:29 PM
    • I sprained my ankle about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I was told it was a grade 2 sprain at least and I was put in a boot cast for the first 2 1/2 weeks and was told last friday to start using an air cast now. The ones through my insurace were to expensive and was told to see about getting one at a local drug store. I went and got one but my calves are large and the second strap would barely just not fit around my calf. Can you tell me if this brace would work for larger calves. I was also looking at the Aircast Airsport Ankle Brace as well cause it doesn't look like it goes as far up. Please let me know which one might be a better fit. I am hoping to use it long term for walking and other outdoor activites.
      Thanks :)
    • Shauna, we do make an air stirrup for bigger calves. However, you would need to call our corporate office directly to order it.
  • Lynn at 10/3/2011 1:42 PM
    • Is this brace meant to be worn while wearing your typical shoes? It is difficult to tell from the photos as it looks rather large. Thank you!
    • Hi Lynn,

Yes, this brace can be worn with typical athletic type shoes.

    • The person I was considering this for has CMT disease and needs help with balance and ackly instability. Will this work?
    • Yes this product will provide joint stability. Also another great product is the Donjoy Velocity Ankle Brace.
