    • I have ultrasling III.. The package I received from team McKenna had a small plastic bag of some kind of strap. After surgery they put the sling on using pillow. I came home and did not see the strap.. Is that an alternative to pillow. What do you call it and can you get one. Thanks
    • There is an extra strap that comes with the Ultrasling III and it is called the de-rotation strap. It is rarely used by clinicians unless the surgeon wants to restrict rotation of the shoulder.

The sling is made of Nylon, spandex and Lycra material. The rash could me from a variety of things, I suggest you speak to your physician regarding this matter

    • Eli
The only person that can tell you that you can take off the pillow os your physician. Please call their office for instructions on when you can get rid of the pillow. From my experience, most folks sleep in a recliner or with a lot of pillows propping them up.
  • Marie at 2/23/2015 6:46 AM

    • How do you make the sling work without the pillow? Is there a way to make it attach around the waist like it does with the pillow on it. It seems like there is too much movement without pillow, but Dr said I could take the pillow out. It is the ultrasound 111
    • The waist strap is only attached to the pillow, and once the pillow is removed the waist strap cannot be used.

Superior to other slings available for post op use

Reviewed by:
Due to full thickness tears, my supraspinatus & infraspinatus were reattached using anchors & I also had a subacromial decompression. I was fitted with an Ultrasling iii AB 2 weeks post op, after I started having issues with the sling I awakened with post op (the velcro did not stay fastened securely). I have found the Ultrasling iii to be much more stable & comfortable, extremely well ventilated, & extremely adjustable as far as fit. I personally prefer slings that are long enough to support my hand & fingers, so requested a larger size than what I would normally be fitted with (I would normally wear a medium, & I requested an extra large in order to have the additional length in the sling to support my hand/fingers). I am very happy with the fit, padding, ventilation & adjustability of this sling & am extremely pleased my Orthopedic surgeon replaced my original sling with the Ultrasling. Rotator cuff surgery involves a lengthy healing & rehabilitation, so I am glad the Ultrasling iii is available, as it is well made & appears to be very capable of holding up to the long term use I require.

I've used many slings through the years after dislocations. When I finally had the labrum surgery, I was given a Donjoy Ultrasling III - awesome stability & comfort.

High quality and durable product

Reviewed by:
This shoulder sling is of much higher quality than a simpler one i had for a previous rotator cuff surgery. It is somewhat bulky due primarily to the waist pillow provided but that feature is a very positive one for the overall fit and use of the sling.I havent yet tried to sleep lying down with it and am not sure how well that will work. The extensive use of velcro to attach various pieces makes it easy to put together .

Very good support and protection. Very much more comfortable and better support than a standard sling. Fairly easy to put on by yourself.

excellent post surgery support

Much better support and protection from outside bumps than simple sling after rotator cuff repair. Allows comfort that reduces excessive arm movement.

extremely pleased with my purchase.

Reviewed by:
I had a subacromial decompression arthroscopic shoulder surgery and I
had chosen this product as my sling of choice and I was extremely
pleased with my purchase. The black fabric was cool in the summer heat.
I was only required by my doctor to have a simple sling, but I was glad
to have this more upscale style with the waist pillow. It was very
comfortable to sleep in and the waist pillow helps to support the
arm/shoulder and gave my neck less stress. Thank you Better Braces for
your customer service support in choosing such a fine product. ---KIM

Comfortable in situations of long term bracing

Reviewed by:
Comfortable, mesh material does provide coolness rather than the other sling I was wearing; would recommend especially in long term bracing.
