Compex Performance Training Programs:

    Endurance Program

  • Targets slow-twitch muscle fibers. Increases capillarization (blood flow) of the muscles and establishes a working regimen for developing the oxidative power of the endurance muscle fibers.

  • Resistance Program

  • Targets both slow- and fast-twitch muscle fibers. Builds muscle size, strength and density.

  • Strength Program

  • Targets fast-twitch muscle fibers. Increases sheer strength and works the muscles at maximum power with less risk of injury to joints and tendons and virtually no cardiovascular or mental fatigue.

  • Active Recovery

  • Does not contract the muscle. Clears lactic acid, increases blood flow, promotes muscle relaxation and enables faster recovery.

  • Pre-Warm Up Program

    • Hello!
I would like to buy the performance compex from your european dealers. Which one of the SP series is equal ?
    • Maria
It looks like the SP 2.0 is very similar
  • Katharina at 4/17/2015 7:43 PM
    • Hi,

I am looking for a device that can also be used for denervated treatment. In Europe, there is a Compex device called "Physio 5" that can do treatment of denervated muscles. Is the compex performance device similar? Which of the devices offered can do denervated treatment?

    • Katharina
The Compex Units should be used on healthy tissue only and are not used on any damaged muscle tissue.
  • Cody at 3/27/2015 10:34 PM
    • Hello.
If I have tendonitis in my shoulders would this machine help with that or is it the other type of machine that is used for pt. if so would it be ideal for me to use this while I take some time off of doing shoulder lifts so my tendonitis can heal. And also which model would be best for that purpose.
      Thank you
    • Cody
The Compex will not help with shoulder pain but you can use it instead of working out in the gym untill your shoulder injury heals. All of the units have strength programs. The Edge has 2, the Performance has 3 and the Elite has 4.
  • Ken at 2/25/2015 3:32 PM
    • How can I order a replacement charger for my professional unit?
    • Ken
We carry the charger for all of our units the Sport, Edge and Elite. If you have another unit possibly european, you would have to go to the Compex internatinal site. I am unsure what unit you are referring to when you say professional.
  • Paul Sherman at 12/3/2014 7:49 PM
    • I just purchased a new Compex Performance unit. The instructions indicate that I should insert a rechargable battery pack. However, there was no rechargable battery pack that came with the unit. Is the battery pack supposed to be included with the unit?
    • Paul
There should have been a battery either in the device or in the box with it
  • Adriana Torres at 10/23/2014 11:52 AM
    • I recently bought a Compex model through Amazon, and it came wihout the battery pack. Should it have come with it? If I do buy the battery pack separately, will it only be delivered by signature only as well? I am staying at a hotel and the front desk receives all packages for the guests.
    • Adriana
The compex should have come with a battery in it. If you recieved one from Amazon please contact them on getting the battery.
  • Tim at 8/23/2014 4:28 AM
    • Are you able to use the complex EMS on pectoralis and other chest muscles?
    • Tim
You do not want to place an electrical stimulation over the heart therefore we do not have any programs for the the chest muscles.
  • Sue at 8/22/2014 7:19 PM
    • Is there a program for people doing crossfit, weight training and running? How would I use the complex unit? On days I don't hit the gym. I am usually at the gym 5-6 times a week. I was thinking of the getting the one with 5 programs. Is there one for weight lifting and running?
    • Sue
You would be thinking of the Performance Unit. That Units programs are broken down below.

Performance Unit - Training Programs (5)
      (1) Warmup Pre-Warm Up
      (3) Strength Endurance / Resistance / Strength
      (1) Recovery Active Recovery

It has 3 strength programs one for endurance(running), Resistance and Strength(Weight Lifting). there are sport specific program guides on the ShopCompex.com website.
  • sue at 8/16/2014 1:52 PM
    • I am looking at one of the Complex models and also the Marc Pro - can you tell me what the differences are - since both are muscle stimulators? I had done a lot of running in the past but I also had a lot a injuries as well and the last few made me stop running- stressed fracture, bone spur and misaligned hip and bad knee. So I started weight training program to lose weight and tone the muscles. Now I want to take it to the next level of improving strength - so I am doing something very closed to crossfit - so back squat, front squat , pull ups(suck at it), hand stand pushups - shoulder strength needed - etc...so i need a device that will strengthen my muscle groups and muscle recovery faster - If i chose complex, which one would u suggest- because the sports illustrated says nothing about weight training
    • I do not know much about the other product that you have mentioned.
The FDA has cleared Compex for the following (6) indications:
      1. Increased Muscle Strength/Density
      2. Increased Muscle Size
      3. Improved Endurance (V02 max)
      4. Improved Explosive Strength
      5. Increased Speed of Muscle Recovery
      6. Ability to Warm-up Muscle
It looks like the other device you were looking at is mainly for recovery after work outs. Our device is used in conjunction with your strength training and can be used in place of being in the gym one day. Here are the different units and the programs that they offer:

Sport Elite Unit - Training Programs (9)
      (2) Warm-up Pre-Warm Up / Potentiation
      (4) Strength Endurance / Resistance / Strength / Explosive Strength
      (3) Recovery Active Recovery / Recovery Plus / Massage

Performance Unit - Training Programs (5)
      (1) Warmup Pre-Warm Up
      (3) Strength Endurance / Resistance / Strength
      (1) Recovery Active Recovery

Edge Unit - Training Programs (3)
      (2) Strength Endurance / Resistance
      (1) Recovery Active Recovery

    • I want to build muscle and sculpt my abs without lifting weights or doing painful crunches, will compex performance can make my muscle grow without working out?
    • No it is meant to be used in addition to working out
  • wayne at 4/10/2014 6:41 AM
    • Can you order (and how would you?) without SNAP pads, but with older style ?
    • All of the models we have available now are used with the snap-on pads. The older models used the pin so we have those parts to fit the older models that are not available anymore.
  • Adam at 2/17/2014 8:18 AM
    • I want a compex (i think) for simply gaining a little muscle mass on my legs and to inhance recovery. I am a lean 68kg cyclist. I simpy want to be able to ride a bit faster on the flat.

My wife may appreciate the massage settings as well as to strengthen her back.

Which compex could I get? I am in Europe so could get the Runner. Any thoughts??

      Thanks in advance
    • Adam,
Thank you for your question. We are only knowledgeable on the Compex sold in the Unites States of America. Based on the information you provided the Performance would be a good option, with exception of the massage feature, it contains everything you need. If you want the Massage setting you would need to go with the Elite. If you are going to purchase this outside of the USA you will want to contact your local dealer using the following link. http://www.compex.info/en_UK/Offline_dealers.html
  • Howard at 12/6/2013 3:44 PM
    • I am looking into beginning an electrical muscle stimulation regiment while I work. Can I expect muscle tone & gains (hypertrophy & strength) after weeks of use? and also I would like to use this in multiple areas (legs, chest, back, and abdominal) will the Performance or Sport Elite allow me to stay active while in use?
    • Howard
Compex enables you to achieve enhanced muscle performance. With Compex you can…
      Build muscle strength and size
      Improve power
      Increase endurance
      Optimize muscle recovery
Get the ultimate muscle warm up
In order to achieve the full benefits of the Compex you should work out on your own as well to achieve what you are calling hypertrophy, The Compex alone will not do it. Because this is used in conjuction with training you can be active while using it. Thank you for contacing DJO

    • I just bought the Compex performance model - the person who recommended it also recommended I get the electrode gel (which I did) - however no where do I find directions on where and how to apply the gel - can you help???
    • Hi Phil

You would apply the gel on the pads and then stick the pads on your body. The gel provides better conductivity.

    • Can you use Muscular elektrostimulation during treatment and recovery from injuries: sprains and torn ligaments, fractures, and others to maintain and restore muscle
    • HI Alex-
Compex will help to build and strenghten muscles and the recovery programs will help to increase blood flow and circulation, release endorphins (which are your body's natural pain killer) and will help to promote overall muscle relaxation.

I hope this answers your question.

      Thank you

    • Are there different versions of the Compex Performance available? I've come across the Compex Performance US and Compex Performance Mi Ready while researching Compex on various sites around the internet. They appear similar, but have different program listings.
    • HI-
No the US version of the Compex Performance has five programs. http://www.shopcompex.com/compex-performance-us.html
The Compex Performance Mi Ready is only available in the European market - as it is not FDA cleared here in the United states.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Eugene at 6/5/2011 5:02 PM

The Compex Performance US Muscle Stimulator is available in the United States. This unit features the Active Recovery program which helps to release endorphins - which are your body's natural painkiller. This program also increases blood flow, clears lactic acid (so you are less sore after a workout) and promotes muscle relaxation. More information can be found here:

    • What is the difference between sports elite and the Mi fitness? I need something as well for my pains..like teens....The sports elite will do that??
      Tkx a lot
    • Hi Walter-

We do not sell the Mi Sport in the United States. A TENS unit is a bit different - it blocks the neuro receptors to help reduce pain. A muscle stimulator will not reduce pain, but it will help increase circulation and releases endorphins, which are your body's natural pain killers.

      Hope this helps
  • DLT at 2/21/2011 12:42 PM
    • My left knee has been bone-on-bone for over 30 years after two hockey injury surgeries (both MCLs snapped / cartilage removed). I walk two strong Huskies 3-4 miles a day up and down hills, and some days the pain is severe. I want to strengthen my quad to protect the joint better and if possible get some pain relief. I've considered an ARPwave treatment program. Which of your products might help? Also, are European models like mi-Fitness going to be available soon?
    • Hi,

Sorry to hear about your knee injury. The various strength programs found on Compex will help to build muscle mass as these programs contract the muscle. The Active Recovery program will help increase blood flow to the area, clear lactic acid, promote muscle relaxation and it also helps to release endorphins, which are your body's natural painkillers.

I hope this helps answer your question.

      Thank you

    • Hi, I play basketball and i am wondering how many inches will i gain on my vertical? Also how long does it take for results?
    • The purpose of the Compex Sport Elite & Compex Sport Explosive Strength program is to increase the speed with which maximum muscle strength can be supplied. It is designed to improve performance in sporting activities of very brief duration such as jumps, sprints and throwing. You're vertical inch gain depends on your genetics, how often you train and the intensity you train at. Results like any other strength training program can be seen in 4-8 weeks.
  • Blake at 5/27/2010 11:11 AM
    • What's the difference between this muscle stimulator and a TEN's unit?
    • TENS the acronym for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. A TENS unit is prescribed for both acute pain and chronic pain conditions and sends electrical impulses to certain parts of the body to block pain signals from being transmitted to the brain. It is used at the sensory level and does not cause muscle contraction.
Compex Muscle Stimulators (EMS) when used for strength training sends a signal to the motor nerve of the muscle causing it to contract and build muscle mass. The Active Recovery program uses specific low level frequencies to increase blood flow, remove lactic acid, release endorphins and promote muscle relaxation.
  • Ed at 4/21/2010 12:59 PM
    • Are there any long-term risks associated with muscle stimulation?
    • No. Muscular electrostimulation and electrotherapy in general have been practiced for many decades with no reported problems. Compex also holds an important liability policy.

    • The Compex Sport Elite & Performance US manuals are available in English, French and Spanish. Unfortunately, we do not use Paypal. The electrodes can be used depending on your skin type, between 15 and 30 times. Some 30 applications are possible on skin that is clean, lotion free, sweat free, non-greasy and shaved.
