Walking Braces and Medical Walking Boots
Walking braces and medical walking boots are typically used for injuries such as broken foot, stress fractures, severe ankle sprains and other foot and ankle injuries. Their primary purpose is to protect the foot while it heals from these injuries. They help patients get back to everyday activities that involve walking. Most walking braces are made with a firm outer shell which protects the injured area from being bumped or stepped on. They are often lined with foam to maximize comfort and to minimize the impact as a patient walks. Many medical walking boots also come with a "rocker" bottom to help the patient transition back to regular movement. Without walking braces, many people with foot and ankle injuries would not be able to safely walk, which would lengthen the rehabilitation process.
